XGS Upper Control Arms: The First of its Kind
We all know that when you trek off-road, having enough ground clearance to tackle the track ahead is imperative to ensure your 4x4 can handle the journey.
So, the first thing that comes to mind is getting yourself a suspension upgrade.
But unfortunately, when you equip your 4x4 with an aftermarket suspension system, that’s designed to lift your vehicle above its factory standard parameters, you’re potentially losing a degree of castor and camber adjustment for every inch you lift your vehicle.
This can have huge implications on your suspension’s geometry when you go to get a wheel alignment, and there’s simply not enough adjustment available to accurately correct your alignment.
Enter XGS Upper Control Arms
XGS Upper Control Arms solves this alignment issue by providing up to 3 degrees of caster and additional camber, which regains those lost degrees of adjustment when lifting a vehicle.
It also helps improve articulation, greatly increases ground clearance, and returns your 4x4 to negative caster to help improve steering feel and response.
But how has XGS been able to achieve this? Well, that’s where things get really exciting!
No. 1 in the Market
XGS are the first in the market to design Upper Control Arms to have a specially designed mount area that will never rub against the rim of the car.
All other Upper Control Arms can potentially touch the wheel and damage it, or potentially crack the wheel causing immediate failure.
To achieve this, XGS created a unique 3D CAD (three-dimensional computer-aided design) to design a product that occupies the same/similar footprint as the OE component, but with geometry correction and correct ball joint location built in.
Once a design was landed on and underwent extensive testing, it was modelled against popular 4x4s including the Colorado and DMAX, along with the new LC300 and Ranger.
To put this innovation into context (using the Colorado & DMAX as an example), XGS Upper Control Arms allows fitment of virtually any aftermarket wheel as the ball joint mount area is now the same size as OE – none of the other aftermarket arms are able to offer this.
